Objectives of the association

The objective of the association is to raise funds to support research and promotional and educational activities to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy the natural phenomenon and the great natural history the national park has to offer.

Role and objectives of the association in a nutshell

• To raise funds to support research and promotional and educational activities to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy the natural phenomenon and the great natural history the park has to offer
• To support the development of the Vatnajökull National Park in consultation with the board of the park and with the collaboration of the interested parties, both in Iceland and abroad
• To promote education and research of the Vatnajökull National Park and its surrounding environment
• To sponsor projects that promote greater interaction between the Vatnajökull National Park and local communities

• To exert its influence to promote greater recognition of the importance of the Vatnajökull National Park for its local communities and the Icelandic nation
• Increase global awareness of the importance of the Vatnajökull National Park and its unique nature in the world

The objective of the FRIENDS of Vatnajökull Association is to attract as many members as possible and to be a financially independent association, which will significantly contribute to projects in the fields of research, education and promotion.
