Policy and vision for the future

The FRIENDS of Vatnajökull Association aims to attract as many members as possible and to be a financially independent association focused mainly on supporting projects that contribute in the fields of research, promotion and education. 

Through the joint contribution of domestic and foreign members, companies, associations and institutions, the FRIENDS of Vatnajökull Association aims to supports worthy and important projects that promote growth in many sectors and help to disseminate greater awareness of the uniqueness and importance of the Vatnajökull National Park – the largest of its kind in Europe. 

The FRIENDS of Vatnajökull Association's policy is to support projects through its grant fund that are geared towards

• Increasing public awareness of the National Park
  
• Fostering closer cooperation between the various districts that make up the National Park.
• The interplay of outdoor activities, culture and the Vatnajökull National Park
• Boosting children and young people's connection with nature
• Globally disseminating a greater understanding of the importance of the Vatnajökull National Park and its unique nature in the world.
